STEP 10 - FOOD INTOLERANCES

FOOD INTOLERANCE is a growing issue in Western society today, as there appear to be foods that our bodies simply can’t handle and don’t know how to digest. Food additives, salicylates, toxins, and irritants contained within foods can all upset the body’s delicate digestive balance and cause stomach upset, mild diarrhea, bloating, gas, and other effects.

Whatever the cause, people can become intolerant of certain foods over time, and find that digestive complaints can occur when these foods are eaten. Often, the issue can be resolved by simply removing these foods from the diet, but in severe cases, or with a food allergy, the gut can become damaged and less efficient at absorbing nutrients, or can allow other problems to occur as its protective capability is diminished.

Ongoing nutrient malabsorption can have an effect on many other body systems; and in children, can lead to problems with development and growth.

It’s important to remember that there is a difference between an intolerance and an allergy—an easy confusion, as they often produce similar effects in the body. The difference is that a food intolerance does not involve the immune system and does not show up on allergy testing or cause severe allergic reactions.

Every cellular process and biochemical reaction in the body needs enzymes to function correctly. Enzymes are critical for immune function, growth, reproduction, hormone regulation, and digestion, as well as a myriad of other bodily processes necessary for survival.

Enzymes are necessary for digesting food nutrients and converting nutrients to energy in cells. As we get older, enzyme levels naturally decrease, which affects the digestion of certain foods that were easily tolerated at a younger age. Enzymes come from foods we eat or are produced by the body itself.

Essential Oils that can help with food intolerance include:

• Cardamom

• Lemongrass

• Ginger

• Copaiba

• Grapefruit

• Tangerine

• Thyme

• Frankincense

• Digestive Blend

• Metabolic Blend

• Detoxification Blend

• Massage Blend

• Digestive Enzyme Complex

If digestive enzymes are deficient, either due to age or because they aren’t present in cooked, processed, and preservative-laden foods, taking a digestive supplement can be very beneficial.

The DIGESTIVE ENZYME COMPLEX has active, whole-food enzymes and supporting cofactors which supports the body’s production of enzymes critical for healthy biochemical functions, including healthy digestion of food nutrients, and cellular metabolism of nutrients to energy.* These whole-food enzymes help with the digestion of proteins, fats, complex carbohydrates, sugars, and fiber.

The DIGESTIVE ENZYME COMPLEX contains 10 whole-food enzymes plus a tummy tamer blend of Peppermint, Ginger, and Caraway Seed to aid absorption. It aids in the production of metabolic enzymes and supports the digestion and metabolism of processed foods that are deficient in enzymes. It also helps the body to be food tolerant and helps in the conversion of nutrients from food to cellular energy that our body can use effectively and efficiently.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take one to three vegetable capsules with meals throughout the day. If your meal includes lots of fresh, raw foods, take one capsule. If your meal includes highly processed, cooked foods, or food products known to cause specific GI discomfort, take two to three capsules with meal.

CAUTIONS

Some people may experience an initial change to digestive schedule and function when they begin using enzyme supplements. For most people, these symptoms are mild and should disappear after a few days. Pregnant or nursing women and people with known medical conditions should consult a physician before using. Does not contain wheat or milk products. Does not contain ingredients made from animal products.
