STEP 11 - BACTERIAL BALANCE

Bacteria in our gut not only keep our intestines healthy, but are very important to the functioning of the immune system and our general health and wellbeing.

Trillions of bacteria live within the gut and they have multiple functions. They help to produce micronutrients, like vitamins and antioxidants, from the food we eat, as well as break down macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) to ease digestion. Bacteria are also very important in maintaining the colon wall, helping with its barrier function and uptake of nutrients in our gastrointestinal tract.

Lots of factors can affect the gut’s bacterial balance. Diet, stress, infection, parasites, and medications can all disrupt our gut’s intestinal flora and cause a bacterial over-growth of bad bacteria that can cause digestive processes to be inefficient.

Having a healthy bacterial balance in the gut relies on having a balanced immune system that's able to destroy bad bacteria but keep good bacteria in check.

PROBIOTICS help to maintain healthy levels of good bacteria in the gut and support our immune defenses. They also help to break down foods we might otherwise find difficult to digest.

Gut bacteria can also be improved through PREBIOTICS. These are non-living organisms found in food that reach the large intestine unaffected by digestion. Prebiotics are types of dietary fibers and are found in foods like legumes, onions, cabbage, garlic, asparagus, oats, barley, and beans.

Essential Oils and related options that can help support healthy levels of good gut bacteria include:

• Black Pepper

• Melaleuca

• Oregano

• Copaiba

• Cilantro

• Cinnamon

• Probiotic Defense Formula

The PROBIOTIC DEFENSE FORMULA is a safe and effective, double-encapsulated, time release delivery system of beneficial prebiotics and probiotics designed to support the digestive system and immune system.

Contained in a double layer vegetable capsule are six strains of active probiotic micro-organisms and prebiotic fiber. Together, the prebiotics and probiotics are able to encourage friendly bacterial growth in the gut. The double layer delivery system means that the sensitive probiotic cultures are protected from stomach acid and are able to reach the intestines where they are needed.

This means that the gastrointestinal tract can be supported to remain healthy and provide the body with optimal digestive function and strong immune system function.

Using the PROBIOTIC DEFENSE FORMULA promotes the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, which allows a healthy intestinal flora balance. This particularly benefits the intestines and colon of the gastrointestinal tract to support optimal metabolism and absorption of food*

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take one double-layer capsule three times daily with food for 10 days each month to promote colonization of friendly digestive flora.* Can be used more frequently and for extended periods of time when digestive flora has been compromised by digestive stressors. PROBIOTIC DEFENSE FORMULA may also be used when traveling to boost digestive immunity, or once a day as an ongoing maintenance program for people with occasional digestive discomfort.*

CAUTIONS

Some people may experience an initial change to digestive schedule and function when they begin using prebiotics and probiotics. For most people, these symptoms are mild and should disappear after a few days. Pregnant or nursing women and people with known medical conditions should consult a physician before using. Do not use if bottle is opened or capsules are broken. Note: Although the PROBIOTIC DEFENSE FORMULA double-layer encapsulation technology makes it unnecessary to refrigerate, it is suggested that unopened bottles be stored in a cool, dry place and opened bottles be refrigerated when possible.

QUESTION – OF THE PREBIOTICS LISTED ABOVE (LEGUMES, ONIONS, CABBAGE, GARLIC, ASPARAGUS, OATS, BARLEY, AND BEANS), WHICH ARE A REGULAR PART OF YOUR DIET?
